MAIN HAND SEWING TECHNIQUES

  1. Hi! Another hand sewing technique could be the catch stitch, also known as a herringbone stitch. It is a hand sewing technique used to hem fabric or attach layers without making the stitches visible on the front side. It creates little "X" shapes by catching small bits of fabric with diagonal stitches, often used on fabrics that stretch slightly. This stitch is flexible, which makes it great for hemming knits or fabrics that might shift. In this case, you work from left to right, with the stitch visible on the back side but barely visible on the front.
